Beautiful things are coming!

~As fall arrives, let’s not focus on

things we leave behind;

but rather…

on the beauty

of what lies ahead.~

I’m Not a ‘Britney Spears’

Enjoying a day off, I wake with a mental To-Do-List running through my head. As I grab my morning breakfast, I can’t help but hear the latest trending news, while flipping the TV remote. And it goes something like this:

Britney Spears Performs in Las Vegas

What the Most Desirable Face Looks Like

Taylor Swift Doesn’t SHAKE OFF Jury Duty

What do the “VOICE” coaches Do Backstage?

See the Best and Wildest Outfits from MTV’s VMAs

Born and raised…

to mow my own lawn..

scrub my own toilets.

work hard for the American dollar.

accept the face I’m in.

the place I’m in.

take nothing and no one for granted.

love God and my enemies.

and be the best person I can be.

and then

get up and do it all over again.

I’m not a Britney Spears. I’m not looking for a new face. I don’t care about Taylor Swift’s jury duty. I don’t need to know what the VOICE coaches do backstage…and the fashion of the latest  Award Show doesn’t even come close to what’s on my mind.

I’m just a woman who wants to know that my children and grandchildren will be safe and happy when I’m gone. I’m just a woman who wants to relate to the real issues of the real world. I’m just a woman who wants to make a difference in others lives.

While Britney struts her stuff on the Las Vegas stage, I’m drinking Aquafina bottled water because I just finished mowing my own lawn. We live in two different worlds and although I know Britney has worked hard to get where she is, so have I….and I can’t imagine even wanting to change places with her.  For that, I am thankful!

I’m Thankful For…

Hello My Friends and Fellow Bloggers,

It’s been a while since I posted a Thankful Thursday and I have much to be thankful for.

These days, I find myself being thankful for the small things we often take for granted. You know…the food in the frig, the car in the driveway, a safe neighborhood to live, AND  YES….may I add, a much-needed day off. It’s Thursday. I’m not working today and I am thankful.

I am also thankful for all the readers, followers and supporters of my little view of the world. When I first thought of starting this blog, the idea was to bring a passion of mine back to life. My passion for writing. From the moment I hit publish on my very first post, I never dreamed I would be this thankful for such an opportunity to share my thoughts with others.

I am extremely thankful for my blogging community.

my random thoughts and my (almost) collision

today has been good.

The sky is amazing.

no more rain.

(Radio turned up. Station changed.)

Oh yes! Great Classic. John Mellencamp.

3 day weekend. So needed!

(head bobbing…harmonizing…)

Little Pink Houses for you and me!

(windows down)

This road reminds me of home. My West Virginia home.

I’m tired…and only a mile from home.

car coming toward me.

it crossed the line.

I’m turning right. Turn more. Hurry!

Foot on brake. Quick jerk!

I’m crowded. Nowhere to go.

I see him. The driver!

I scream…

“Hey You! Get off your phone!”

Slammed my horn! Our cars almost collide.

I read his lips.

He says, “WHOA!”

(Steer left. Back on the road.)

Control maintained. Composure gained.

tight grip. near miss.

and in the blink of an eye…He’s gone!

Radio is off.

Nothing but the sound of the blinker.

Left turn.

Thoughts escape me… except for two.

I’m home.

I’m thankful.

P.S. True story.
