…along the concrete jungle…

Somewhere among the thousands of people along the concrete jungle,

just below the canvas of steel lies something beautiful.

Unnoticed and without any inkling of its beauty by those with swift feet,

lies a pink flower.

And then my mind begins to conjure up thoughts of how it used to be.

From Me to You…

With this being the last Weekly Photo Challenge of the year, I can’t help but realize how quickly time has passed.

Life is full of unpredictable turn of events and even with all the drama that manages to arise, each day never ceases to be miraculous.

One of my favorite times of the year is Christmas because it reminds me to surround myself with those I love. With so many people searching for those magical moments, with eyes wide open…little do they know…the magic is already there.

We all have a story…and sometimes the struggles within each journey is not only for our learning, but a message to inspire others, as well.

One of my favorite memories in time was when I opened my front door and visited a post-card moment of this silent beauty.

This video is a picture-perfect post card moment in my life. I’m not saying my life was perfect, by any means, but that very moment in time was.

Although this is no longer my home and have moved twice to two different states since then…I still remember the warmth I felt on that cold, silent night.

Every now and then, I reflect on where I am and the many different circumstances that led me here. I will always cherish my past, the good and the bad…as stepping stones to this journey I continue.  With 2018 soon upon us, I wish you the joy of family, the gift of friends and the best of everything in the new year.

My most treasured heirlooms are sweet memories with my family, especially my grandson, Ellis Job.

Memories bring a warm glow to my soul.

This past week has been a blessing .

My husband (Pappy) and I (Nonnie), had the opportunity to keep our almost three-year-old grandson for an entire week. This isn’t the first time, but I have to say, the most memorable, so far. Although we both still worked all week, I have the pleasure of working from home. I must say, my schedule was a bit busier but so worth it.

Somehow, we managed to fill each day with fun and play, as well as visiting the local park to feed the ducks.

Just as the sun was beginning to set, the rays beamed from behind the trees in our direction. I purposely decided not to take my camera because I wanted to focus solely on Ellis. This was our last night with him before traveling eight hours back to be home with his parents.  After seeing so much warmth in the moment, I pulled out my cell phone and began to snap some shots.

I love everything about this moment. This was a Pappy-Ellis moment. I have many moments with him that brings a smile to my face, but watching him with my husband brings warmth to my heart. The sun behind us casts a shadow of all three of us. How warm is that? The memorable moment is shadowed by the warmth of the sun.

As the sun sets, all I can think of are the warm memories made with Ellis Job.

That moment had come when we knew it was time to go. We packed up the empty bags of bread slices and popcorn and walked toward the car. The drive home was beautiful in so many ways. Listening to a toddler talk is so illuminating with the many thoughts and questions of why. “Why?” has become his favorite word and I love that.

As I looked out the window, the warm sun glowed in a distance as it set for the night. Once again, I pulled out my cell phone and snapped a shot. What a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Some memories are unforgettable. This memory will forever remain vivid and heart-warming as time goes by.
