My Six Word Story

~Don’t micromanage me. It doesn’t work.~

In the words of Theodore Roosevelt,

“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint to keep from meddling with them while they do it.”

empty nest

As I walked along the railroad tracks, I saw a tree whose branches were no longer in season.

Bare and colorless.

But I couldn’t help but notice the fully exposed nest among the branches.

Twigs and leaves and a collection of things. A patchwork fabric nestled within the center of the tree.

A safe haven. A comfort zone.

But like the bird who leaves an empty nest, so must we.

Dare to fly.

Infuse A Deeper Meaning

Although Memorial Day is celebrated by many as a three-day weekend from the norm with cookouts and family fun; others are proudly flying their flag in remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives defending this nation.

Did you know in December of 2000, Congress passed a law requiring Americans to pause at 3 p.m. their local time to honor the fallen? Although Congress had good intentions,  by 3 p.m., I’m sure many are engulfed in the various festivities planned for the day.

No matter how we celebrate, may be always honor and never forget the importance and true meaning behind the day.

Because patriotism should not be short-lived but rather a daily dedication.

Our every thought and action can infuse a deeper meaning of the red, white and blue.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend, my friends!
