Thankful Thursday: Flaws and All

Growing up as a young girl, I realized I was different from others. My life, my home, my thoughts, my physical being…all different. Sometimes, my peers made me aware of this. Yes, people can be mean. But what they didn’t know was that I already knew this and was proud of it. And, another thing they didn’t know…they weren’t perfect, either.

Now that I’m older…I am a woman who is still different from others. My life, my home, my thoughts, my physical being…all different. Yes, people can still be mean.

Over time, I have realized I am perfectly imperfect.

Without all the flaws, I wouldn’t be real. For that, I am Thankful!

my random thoughts and my (almost) collision

today has been good.

The sky is amazing.

no more rain.

(Radio turned up. Station changed.)

Oh yes! Great Classic. John Mellencamp.

3 day weekend. So needed!

(head bobbing…harmonizing…)

Little Pink Houses for you and me!

(windows down)

This road reminds me of home. My West Virginia home.

I’m tired…and only a mile from home.

car coming toward me.

it crossed the line.

I’m turning right. Turn more. Hurry!

Foot on brake. Quick jerk!

I’m crowded. Nowhere to go.

I see him. The driver!

I scream…

“Hey You! Get off your phone!”

Slammed my horn! Our cars almost collide.

EYE CONTACT IS MADE!

I read his lips.

He says, “WHOA!”

(Steer left. Back on the road.)

Control maintained. Composure gained.

tight grip. near miss.

and in the blink of an eye…He’s gone!

Radio is off.

Nothing but the sound of the blinker.

Left turn.

Thoughts escape me… except for two.

I’m home.

I’m thankful.

P.S. True story.
