Hello…Welcome to my little world.

If you are reading this, you are probably expecting to read a little something about me. So, here we go….

img_4799My name is Laura and I moved from “Almost Heaven West Virginia” to “Virginia is For Lovers” a couple of years ago. Although I miss the beautiful winters and fall foliage of West Virginia, I am learning to quickly love the culture of the Commonwealth of Virgina.

I am a Certified Child Development Specialist with over 20 years of experience with children that includes Child Care, Head Start and Pre-K. I am currently providing Private In-Home Child Care for “little ones” which is a true blessing. Ten plus hours a day with infants and toddlers keeps me on my toes but I love every minute of it.

I am a Christian, Wife, Mother (of 2 grown children) and Grandmother(a.k.a. Nonnie). I have been married for 36 years to the same wonderful man whom I’m very proud of. I love music, photography, writing, podcasting and blogging. My husband and I have been attending concerts every year for 36 years. One year, we had the honor of seeing Sir Paul McCartney! I can’t wait to see what the future years will bring! I love chocolate…chocolate ice cream, chocolate shakes, chocolate cake, and especially Reese Cups!

Here are a few random things about me you may or may not like:

My bucket list is partially checked off. One that I was able to check off two years ago was getting a tattoo. Check out my story here!  I also checked of SKYDIVING. Yep! I did! Check out the video here!

Not only do I love music but I also enjoy making videos and YES, sometimes I’m in them! LOL. The video here is my husband and I lip-syncing. For our 30th wedding anniversary, we renewed our vows and at the end, this video was played on the big screen for all to enjoy!

Born and raised as a coal miner’s daughter in North Central West Virginia is what keeps me humble. My influence as a Christian, wife, mother and grandmother gives me purpose. Living my life to the fullest and making each day count is what keeps me fulfilled. Using my God-given talents for others simply makes me happy…and living for God is what makes me whole.

I believe everyone has within them an imagination that needs to be explored through thought, creativity and expression.  There is no right or wrong way because you are the author, artist,  creator and the one who sets the very standard for the masterpiece. Everyone has a window and each window has a view. This is the View From My Window.

  1. Re the chocolate, I have to tell you that I just put a flour-less chocolate cake in the oven–I’ve not done one before, but my neighbor has serious diet restrictions (Celiac disease), and I’m hoping it turns out. I want to bless him–early Valentine’s treat, lest he think I’m being weird 🙂 He’s the quietest, most respectful neighbor I’ve had in 20 yrs, a Godsend!

I appreciate you and your recent encouraging words and comments. I look forward to our friendship through the blogsphere and hope I can be a support to you, as well.😃

      1. I was perusing your blog and just now saw your comment, which says it’s from May! I don’t believe I ever received a notification message about that comment. Anyway, thanks for the sweet words!

My poor blog has been ignored this summer. A month is the longest I’ve ever gone without making a post. I could think of nothing that seemed worth posting, no matter how much I pondered the idea. I’ve been going through some strange things in general this summer, (my husband claims I’m going through a midlife crisis. Lol) but hopefully I’ll have more ideas to share with WordPress soon.

Thanks again for your encouragement, and I hope you have a great day!

    1. Oh, how funny. I started looking through your photo 101 posts and realized you were one of the bloggers I talked to during the last photo 101 course. Thanks, again, for following me and for your likes and responses to my past comments on your photos. I’m going to look through them again, anyway, because I think I missed a few! You take great photos!

    1. Looks like we have a few things in common! 😃 Thanks for the music clip. Now I’m gonna have that song stuck in my head all day!😬

      1. It’s called an ‘ear worm’ apparently – when you have a song stuck in your head. Sounds more gruesome than it really is though. Best antidote? Listen to another song. 😀

    1. Hey Ika,

So sorry I have taken so long to reply…I just saw your comment. I Love your photos. I also love photography although, I am not a professional. Photography and writing are two of my passions. I also see you have a dog. I have a large black lab that it 12 years old. We have had him since he was 7 weeks old and he is such a big part of my life. Glad we have a few things in common. I look forward to following your photos. Thanks so much for your encouraging words. You made me smile. 🙂
      Til next time….
      Simply, Laura

      1. Hi Laura, no problem. I am not a professional either. I just love taking photos with my iPhone 🙂
Actually I have two dogs, one pure black and one pure white in color. The white one doesn’t like to be photographed though. They both Bali dogs, we adopted them from a dog shelter in Ubud, actually the chose us, not the other way around. They first jumped to us as soon as we got there, so we took them 🙂
About the blog, I am more into photos and simple comments, i am not so good in writing, will try someday when I have the right topic. Ok, will look forward for more of your posts then. Cheers from Bali, Ika.
