Blogger Recognition Award

Thanks so much to The Utopia Universe  for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award. I am truly thankful for this recognition. I totally believe in the Pay-It-Forward concept and hope you take time to check out this blog. The Utopia Universe is truly inspiring. I appreciate this nomination. It is a real honor to give and to receive.

Here are the rules:

Write a post to show your award

Give a brief story of how your blog started

Give two advice notes to new bloggers

Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to your blog

Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to.

So, here goes. Hum…How did my blog start? My blog, The View From My Window, started with the thought in mind of writing a book, someday. Yes, someday…I want to write a book and have it published. I have no plan of when it will happen. No specific date in mind. Just a thought. I started this blog to help jumpstart the idea.

The View From My Window goes back to my high school creative writing class of 1981.  I loved that class. Mrs. Eckert was an amazing teacher who allowed us, as students, to explore our thoughts and dream of becoming aspiring writers some day. At the end of the year, we collected our most prized possessions of poetry and prose and put them in a paperback book called, The View From My Window. I called her one day and asked if I could use the title for my blog. “Of course,” she replied. And the rest is history. With over 1,800 followers, and with 500+ of these being fellow bloggers, writing has never felt so good. My View is growing and it’s all because of one lady who took the time and interest in a girl who had a dream. I appreciate her and you, the follower, who keeps this dream alive in me every single day. Thank you for that! 🙂

Even though I can see how far I’ve come, I sometimes, still feel like a newbie. The only advice I can give to new bloggers would be:

  1. Write what you know and believe in your words.
  2. Don’t be a loner. Never underestimate the importance of community. Connect with fellow bloggers and your readers. If you don’t, you’re missing out on something amazing.

As far as my nominations, if you feel you would like to receive this honor…please consider yourself a nominee. There are so many blogs an writers out there, I want it to go to the person or persons who feel they can make it their own.

Sincerely,

Laura

  1. Congratulations on the award! Good story about the name of your blog from that class you took back in 1981. Good luck on your plans for a book…

      • Lol well I don’t do fiction. I’m writing a book about having a more fulfilling relationship with your SO but I could probably direct you to someone 🙂

  3. Awesome story. It is amazing how much impact we have in the lives of others. Your teacher is appreciated even by me now because of the impact of your writing. I took creative writing as well and was a part of the sophomore yearbook team. However, the impact was different. Paying it forward…sometimes it seems elusive. But I know that we plant the seeds and God gives the increase. Thank you sharing and I added Utopia to my blogging community list. Nice site and interesting concepts.

    • Sandra, your words are so very true. Although paying it forward sometimes seems elusive, we have no idea who we may influence or make an impact on, if any. But as God’s blessings rain down on me, I hope to always share a part of that with others. Although I majored in Journalism, my career took a different path. I work with children every day and I wouldn’t want it any other way. As far as my passion for writing, photography and blogging… That too, is a blessing from God. Thanks so much for your heartfelt thoughts. I appreciate you and your ability to always give encouragement to me and others.
