Let’s Talk

Plain and Simple is always better....

Plain and Simple is always better….

Hello Friends,

A week has gone by and I’m sure much has happened within our lives over the past seven days…so “Let’s Talk.”

So this is what’s on my mind today, “Home.” I’m sure we all know the famous 1939 musical fantasy adventure film, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland.  I love this movie. I remember looking forward, each year, to watching this classic and still do. It never seems to get old no matter how many times I’ve seen it.

We all know the story, so I will start where Dorothy is caught up in a cyclone and is dropped in the Land of Oz.

Have you ever felt like you were caught up in a whirlwind cyclone and just tossed to and fro until you finally just dropped from sheer exhaustion? Many of us have been there one time or another, in our lives. Sometimes, it happens suddenly and there’s no way out. You just have to ride the storm out. Other times, the wind blows in slowly and the dark clouds appear overhead but go unnoticed until the elements blow in and hit you hard and you are caught up in something you saw coming but didn’t take extra precautions, so you find yourself weathering the storm.

No matter how the storm hits, you are in an unfamiliar place, much like Dorothy…and all you want to do is “go home.”

I have found myself thinking this more often over the past few months. My home in WV was vacant and lifeless for days on end, waiting for the right person or family to come and make it their own. It was finally sold, the keys were turned over and I can no longer call it my home.  The place I am living in at the moment is not my home. Although I have a key and have been given permission to use it temporarily, I don’t call it home. The house I hope to buy in the near future doesn’t have my name on it yet. I have not been given the keys to enter the front door until the owner gives me the permission. So…I find myself saying the famous Dorothy quote “There’s no place like home.” If I could only click my heels three times and say those magical words..

But don’t we all want the same thing? Don’t we all just want to have something we can call home at the end of the day in our pursuit of happiness? We, as Americans, are free to pursue happiness. But is there a guarantee we will achieve it? Not really. I guess the answer is knowing how and where to look. It doesn’t matter how many addresses I may have, how many keys I own, nor how many doors they may open…If I don’t have the key to the perfect, eternal home… my pursuit to happiness is all in vain.  If walking into our earthly home gives us great pleasure, imagine what our heavenly home will feel like… I think Dorothy’s quote is much more than a cliché.

There’s no place like Home.”

Now…It’s your turn. Do you agree? Disagree? Indifferent? Let me know. If you have advice, give it! If you have something to say, please share it with me. Tell me something…anything…whatever is on your mind.  I want to hear your voice. What you have to say matters to me. LET’S TALK!

                                                                                                    Simply,

                                                                                                     Laura
